I was dragged into a venue by a friend and found myself in the midst of an Eve 6 show. After forcing a grin through half of their hit song I decided life was too short for that so I stepped outside into the venue’s backyard . This was where I stumbled into the kind of surprise that has made SXSW a festival of lore.
As I slipped outside, KCSN faves and festival darlings Cults were stepping onto the backyard stage.
The young band have become surprisingly mature performers and the crowd were singing along to the songs in a way that suggest these are destine to be classics.
When vocalist Madeline Folin invited the audience onto the stage for the finale it was clear why Cults is one of the stars of SXSW 2012.
